Chronicle of the Prussian land by Peter of Dusburg, translated into several languages in previous years. With this 2025. English translation, the translator wants to introduce a new group of readers to the oldest history of Prussia and the Teutonic Order. This chronicle, completed in 1326, was later supplemented and includes the period up to 1330. Thus, exactly 699 years have passed from the completion of the chronicle to this translation, and next year this chronicle will have its 700th anniversary. This chronicle is an important primary source of the history of the Knights of the Teutonic Order, which gives a wide insight not only into the history of the land of Prussia itself and the Teutonic Order, but also allows us to understand the Crusades and the Christian ideas of the time that existed in the Christian world of that time, taking into account the historical realities with which had to deal the people of that time. This primary historical source touches upon the lesser-known history of the Northern Crusades, which led to the expansion of the European cultural space and the creation of Europe as we know it today. The chronicle is interesting not only because it covers the oldest history of Prussia, but also gives an insight into the history of Livonia, Lithuania and Poland in the 13th and 14th centuries, as well as reports on events in the Holy Roman Empire and neighboring countries. Overall, the chronicle will be an interesting source of history for anyone interested in the history of the Medieval Military Orders. The chronicle consists of a total of four parts and one supplement. The first part describes how the Teutonic Order was founded in 1190 in the Holy Land. The second part describes how and when the brothers of the Teutonic Order came to the land of Prussia. The third part, which is also the largest of all parts, describes the wars and events that took place when the Order conquered the land of Prussia, as well as during the continuation of the war with the pagan state of Lithuania. In the fourth part, the chronicler listed the emperors of the Holy Roman Empire as well as the popes who reigned at the time of the events described in the chronicle, thus providing context, the sequence of events, and the causes. Also, this part describes other important events that took place in Europe, the Holy Land and its neighbors. The supplement mentions the events that took place in Prussia and its neighbors between 1326 and the death of the initiator of the chronicle - Werner of Orseln - Grand Master of the Teutonic Order.
